Young people are invited and encouraged to participate in virtual programs that will support them in their transition to independence and adulthood. These programs offer series of workshops as learning opportunities for youth to develop and enhance their skills, learn from one another and build community.

The workshop series are offered to youth 18-29years old.

Some programming is catered to youth 16-18years old. For instance, our Summer Financial Literacy program is offered each summer for 3 week sessions.  group provides a learning journey for youth in care by providing an inclusive environment for participants to establish basic money management and pre-employment skills.

UPCOMING PROGRAMS

PARC is offering a Virtual Financial Literacy program for youth 16-18 years old. Youth must be on VYSA, CCSY, or ESC to register. 

This workshop series will teach young people how to handle money through effective banking and budgeting. This will increase youth confidence and empower them to save money and begin building assets. 

3 Sessions available in JULY:  Monday to Thursday from 11:00am-12:30pm

Session 1:  July 4 – July 7

Session 2:  July 11 – July 14                                                       

Session 3:  July 18 – July 21

Youth will receive a Certificate and Honorarium upon completion

Fall/Winter programs/Workshop series 2021-2022

All programs were held virtually on TEAMS from 5:00-6:30PM once a week for 8-10 weeks, unless indicated otherwise. 

Ahead of the Game:

The program is a mentoring program for Black Youth, and is facilitated by Jonathon Hood who is a professional athlete, motivational speaker, personal coach and youth mentor. The group provides a safe space for youth of African Heritage to discuss matters that impact them.

Themes include: identity, self- image, goal setting, overcoming diversity and communication.

Education and Career Pathways Workshop Series:

This workshop series will offer pathways and resources to education while setting shot/long term employment goals.  Program offers guest speakers from various fields; pre employment workshops will offer a variety of topics based on essential life skills for youth including networking and branding, social media, interviews, resumes, professional development, linkedIN and much more. An emphasis on career pathways and a look into current trends in the labour market.

HSBC Professional/Personal Development training series

THESE SESSIONS ARE FOR YOUTH 18-29YEARS OLD WHO ARE INTERESTED IN EXPANDING THEIR KNOWLEDGE AND STRENGTHENING THEIR LEADERSHIP SKILLS SET. INTERESTSTED IN A LEARNING ENVIRONMENT TO STRENGTHEN SOFT & HARD SKILLS.

Health and Wellness:

This workshop will focus on health and wellness strategies that will include topics on stress management, nutrition, benefits of active living and will explore meditation and breath work.

Housing Workshop series:

PARC’s Housing Education Workshop series will focus on all things young people will need to know when considering moving out on their own.  We will explore what type of housing options are available to young people, things to consider when planning to move out, how to find rental listings, navigating residential tenancy law and more. 

Healthy Relationship Workshop Series:

The goal of this workshop is to help youth learn how to differentiate between a healthy and toxic relationship, and how domestic violence can impact them and the people around them.  We will also touch on Internet dating (internet safety) as well as human trafficking.
